Staying focused on your goals

Do you ever wonder why some people are naturally successful at anything they do while others (who have all the skills and plenty of opportunities) just can’t seem to succeed at anything?

Certainly we could come up with many reasons why some succeed and some don’t.

We could talk about work ethic, intelligence, risk tolerance, decision making abilities, luck, having good connections, financial resources, moral support. The list goes on and on.

All of these are either qualities or tangible things and what I want to talk about are intangible and unmeasurable.

Do you want to know the single most important difference between those who succeed at accomplishing their goals and those who don’t?

Of course we are only talking about people who have clearly defined goals.

Check out this video…

Now let’s talk a little bit about setting goals and having a crystal clear intention on what your outcome is. I mean it’s kind of hard to focus on your outcome if you don’t know what it is, right?

I’m going to post a video in the near future where I will walk you through a process that I use to identify my goals and set my intentions on achieving them.

For now, I’ll leave you with this.

When you set your goals, it’s a good idea to identify measurable accomplishments like a certain income level, the ability to quit your job, making a specific purchase, or whatever your goals happen to be.

Here is a tip and a preview of what I will show you in that future video I am talking about.

When you are focused on your goals/outcome like I mentioned in the video, focus on what achieving the goal will do for you and how it will make you feel rather than focusing on the goal itself.

So if your goal is to earn enough money to allow you to quit your job in six months, imagine and focus your intention on what life will be like when you no longer dread Monday mornings. Imagine the feeling of every day being Saturday.

Hypothetically, let’s say you need to earn $10,000 per month in order to quit your job. Don’t focus your attention on the $10,000 per month goal, focus on what it will feel like to have accomplished your goal. Focus on the impact this will have on your life and those around you.

And remember, stop focusing on the process you have to go through to get there, or the results you experience or have experienced in the past.

Hopefully going forward, every time you start focusing on these things you will remember -STOP- this isn’t serving me; and start thinking about those Saturdays.

Speaking of staying focused on your goals, my friend Jessica is about to start a 24-day challenge. I’m thinking about doing the same AdvoCare weight loss challenge. We’ll see.

Your staying focused on your goals leader,

I get it now. There is a student who started two years behind me that is now in the same level of classes that I am in. We are pretty close friends, but I always thought he was just way smarter than me. What it comes down to though, and this describes us to a T, is that he is focused only on the end result. He wants that degree in hand and is focussed only on that. I’ve been dicking around, worrying about the process and the what ifs. What if I get my degree and can’t find a job? How can I start looking for jobs in that field? What order do I need to take my classes in to ensure that I can take them when they are offered? My friend is thinking, hmm, no degree yet. He climbs mountains the same way. His goal is to get to the top. Avid hikers say they average 2 hours to get to the top, he gets done in 1 or less. Then he looks around and takes a quick break and back down again, just as fast. I suppose focusing on the end goal is the quickest way to reach it, but stopping to smell the roses isn’t so bad. I’ve learned a lot on my longer route to the top. Now that I’ve seen the light, it’s time for me to stop dicking around and get this degree finished.

In today’s world it’s so easy to get distracted, especially if you spend a lot of time online. Focus is such a key skill of top earners. You have to focus on one thing until successful.
