Before we get into the technical stuff I want you to have a really clear understanding of the strategies we are about to implement.
What we are about to do isn’t just a simple walk in the park. This isn’t just another thing we can try out for a while and see what happens.
It’s a big deal. You aren’t just throwing together a website and hoping for the best.
We need to be strategic and calculated. Think of it as if you are about to build your own online empire. We’ll call it “You Inc.”
Yes the goal is to promote your MLM opportunity, but if you do this right, marketing your MLM will only be a small part of your online empire.
If this sounds like a little much for your liking, you may want to consider a less time consuming process. I get it. Not everyone has an unlimited amount of time on their hands. If this is the boat you are in, don’t worry you have options (other than pestering friends and family).
Go Check Out This Free Webinar that my buddy Chris Roach put on. I actually recommend learning and implementing this approach along with the approach you are going to learn in this blueprint.
In this video I give a high level overview on how we can use the same 3-step online sales process that marketers have been using for almost 2 decades to build your own unique online brand and generate MLM leads around the clock.
At this point you’re probably thinking one of two things.
1) Wow, this makes a lot of sense. I’m fired up. Where do I begin?
or…
2) This sounds like a lot of work.
If the first thought describes you, great—looks like you caught the vision. You should get started right away.
If you are skeptical, you probably either haven’t caught the vision or you are truly concerned about the commitment this is going to require. Again, if this is sounds like more than you can handle, Check Out This Free Webinar.
Here’s what I’ll say. This is a big commitment. This is going to require a lot of time and effort, but here is the question I have for you.
What other alternatives do you have right now?
Are you going to keep working your warm market?
How about purchasing more phone leads?
Or you can always keep vomiting your opportunity all over Facebook.
At some point you are going to either run out of options or burn yourself out like 95% of all network marketers do. Don’t let this happen.
Make the commitment.
Get serious about your business and your future.
Start working on a vision that goes beyond your network marketing opportunity.
Enough said—let’s start building your empire.
Setting up your MLM Blog
Why do we use a blog instead of a regular website or worse yet, a company provided replicated site?
Because I said so…
No, for real, starting your own blog is the best way to go.
First, you will have control over all of your content.
Nobody can take it away from you. It is yours and you have complete freedom to do whatever you want and sell whatever you want. Good like trying to add to or modify a replicated site.
Second, blogs are user-friendly, totally customizable, and actually pretty fun once you get up and running.
Third, if you are regularly adding content to your site (which you will be), blogs are definitely the way to go.
Blogs also allow your followers to respond, ask questions and leave comments.
Creating your own blog is going to require a few tools and a couple hours of your time to get started.
Everything you need is included in this blueprint. All of the tools that I recommend are the same tools I have used to create this blog.
Step 1: Purchase Web Hosting And A Domain Name
There are tons of hosting companies out there and I have used a number of them. My favorite so far is Hostgator.
They are one of the bigger and more reliable companies. Their prices are competitive. And they have 24/7/365 customer support. This is huge if you are a newbie.
If you buy through my partner link, I have a 25% off coupon code you can use. Just type in the code lazymlmleads when you check out.
Once you click my partner link, the Hostgator homepage should open in a separate window.
Click on “View Web Hosting Plans.”
I recommend the Baby Plan. The Hatchling Plan will work, but the Baby Plan allows you to set up as many domains as you want.
At this point you may only be planning to create 1 site, but if you are at all like me, you will end up creating more than 1 site. I think I have over 40 now. That may be overkill, but what can I say.
Click on the “Order Now” button and it should bring you to this screen:
If you have purchased your domain somewhere else such as GoDaddy you can enter it and click on “I already own this domain,” otherwise you can register it right now by entering it and clicking on “register a new domain.”
It is easier to register it through Hostgater because it will save you a couple steps and you won’t have to wait for it to propagate.
Choosing a good domain is important, but don’t spend 2 days trying to come up with the perfect domain. Your domain name is not nearly as important as the content on your blog.
Then go ahead and select your package type and billing cycle. The longer billing cycle you commit to the cheaper your monthly price is. I did the 36 month right off the bat.
Choose a username and security pin, and then fill out the billing information.
Skip all of the up-sells cuz ya don’t need em.
Don’t forget to put in the coupon code lazymlmleads, and then click “Create Account.”
Step 2: Installing WordPress
You should have received a welcome email that looks something like this…
I recommend saving this email. I can’t even tell you how many times I have referenced this thing.
Click on the Your Control Panel (C-panel) link and login with the username and password that is provided in this email. Don’t confuse this with the billing system link, username and password. That is for billing only. We want the C-panel.
Now that you are in your C-panel, don’t freak out like I did. It can be overwhelming but you probably won’t be in here much after today. Besides that you always have that 24/7 support.
There are only 2 things we need to do in here today.
First, set up your email.
Go down to Mail, click on “Email Accounts” and fill out this information…
You can use your first name@, contact@, support@ or anything you want. You can also set up more than 1 email address.
Click on “Create Account.” You should see your newly created email address below. On the far right side, click on “More” and then click “Access Webmail.”
This will bring you to a page where you can access your email using 3 different options. Either of them are fine. I use “Horde.”
You may want to bookmark this page because this is where you will access your email going forward. You can also get to your email by typing yourdomain.com/webmail.
But don’t forget the password you used when you set your email up. You may have used a different password than your C-panel password, which is different than your billing password. Haha, so confusing. Just write them all down or something.
All right, let’s install WordPress now.
Go back to your C-panel. Clicking on Home in the upper left is the quickest way.
Go down under “Software Service” and click on “Quick Install.”
On the left hand side under “Blog Software,” click on “Word Press,”and then click “Continue.”
Fill out the fields like I have (but with your information)…
You can always change your blog title, so don’t worry too much about that.
Click on “Install Now.”
Click on “Finish Installation.”
BAM, your blog is now live as long as you purchased your domain through HostGator.
If you didn’t, you will need to go into your domain account and change your name servers to NS4031.HOSTGATOR.COM and NS4032.HOSTGATOR.COM.
Your domain provider should be able to assist you with this. If not, leave a comment below and I’ll help you out.
Now that WordPress is set up you will be accessing your blog through WordPress rather than your C-panel.
You can access your blog at yourdomain.com/wp-admin.
Step 3: Setting Up WordPress
Now that WordPress is installed, it’s time to customize and optimize it.
I’m going to show you all the settings that need to be configured, what plug-ins I recommend using and how to set up your theme.
There are thousands of themes for you to choose from—some are free, some aren’t.
I’ll show you how to access the free ones, but if you can part with $97 I recommend using the theme I’m currently using—Optimizepress.
Here are a few reasons I recommend it:
- It’s easy to use
- It’s fully customizable
- You can create a clean looking site
- You can use it to create sales pages, landing pages, membership portals, and launch funnels (don’t worry—you’ll learn what these are)
- It is Fully Responsive “Mobile Ready.” This is key!
- They have over 30 templates to choose from
- They have a 30-day money back guarantee
You can purchase it here.
If you purchase it from this link, I will receive a small commission. Thank you very much!
Back to customizing your WordPress blog. The easiest way for me to walk you through this is to have you follow along with this video…
That’s not everything you will ever need to know in order to be a professional blogger, but it will give you a something to start with.
Remember, you can’t screw this up. Play around with it, watch some other WordPress tutorials, and be creative.
Here’s that link one more time for OptimizePress.
Let’s take a break from WordPress and set up your email auto responder system.
Step 4: Setting Up Your Email Auto Responder System
Have you ever heard the saying, “The Fortune Is In The Follow Up?” It’s true, and it’s especially true when you are selling online.
Most people are not ready to buy (or join your business) the first time they come across your stuff.
And if they don’t bookmark your page or remember your URL, they probably won’t see your stuff ever again.
This is why we need to introduce ourselves and exchange contact information so that we are able to follow up and stay in front of them.
This would be a complete nightmare if you had to do it manually. Thank God for Aweber.
Watch this video and I’ll show you how AWeber might end up being the most valuable marketing tool you will ever own…
Pretty sweet, huh?
Like I said, I’m offering a $1 trial if you purchase from my affiliate link. Purchase AWeber now.
Step 5: Finishing Touches
Your blog is pretty well set up at this point, but let me shorten your learning curve a bit and show you a few things you need to know about WordPress.
…..(Video: creating posts, pages and categories)……
…..(Video: adding pictures and videos)……
Now What?
At this point the infrastructure is in place.
The next step is to get really clear on what your brand is, do some research, integrate social media, and start blogging.
You can check out all of my blogging strategies, but I would focus on these 6 strategies first.
Creating your brand
Keyword Research: Determine where your audience hangs out
Create Your Opt-Ins
Set up your auto responder series
Implement Social Media
Search Engine Optimization
What to blog about
Once you have completed these, check out the rest of my blogging strategies. I am constantly adding more content, so check back often.

March 2, 2015I was wondering does it matter what you blog about.
Jason Kersten
May 22, 2015Yes it does. Some people will tell you that you can blog about anything you want. The problem here is that your readers don’t care about anything and everything. They are looking for something specific. You want to be very targeted with your content. This will also help you get ranked high in Google. Google loves content, and having targeted content tells Google that you are an expert in whatever subject you are blogging about. Blogging about anything and everything only confuses Google. I hope this helps.

October 7, 2015I have a company provided replicated site. Can I still create a blog?
Jason Kersten
May 1, 2016Yes you absolutely can!

May 5, 2016Jason,
You’re definitely doing your thing. I’ve been searching for how to combine internet marketing with network marketing on and off for a few months, and I keep finding my way back to your site through the search engines.
I found this post very helpful even after setting up a few websites by myself in the past. I started diving into this stuff pretty heavily a few years ago and then fell out of it. This has been a great refresher and is definitely easy enough for a new person as well.
Are you still happy with Optimizepress? That is still one area I’m a bit confused by. I have always just used regular themes and have never gotten to the point of setting up lead capture pages. I know there area few similar options available, but none of them stand out as a clear winner.
I do like the one time payment with Optimizepress. You’d say its the way to go for someone who is just interested in capturing leads for a network marketing business?
Thanks a lot,
Al

May 9, 2016Hey Al, great to hear from you. I do like Optimize Press. They have a nice selection of capture pages to choose from. And like you said, it is a one time purchase. The only thing I don’t like is that you have to use a double opt-in when you link it up to Aweber. If anyone knows a way to get around that, please let us know. I have also used leadpages.com in the past. I loved it, but I think I paid $37 per month if I remember right.
